PURPOSE: A negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery and a rechargeable lithium battery including the same are provided to improve battery characteristics and lifetime property of the rechargeable lithium battery due to excellent adhesive force to a current collector. CONSTITUTION: A negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a current collector(2) and a active material layer(3) formed on the current collector. The active material layer is formed of active materials capable of forming a solid of metal M and a lithium-containing compound, wherein M is selected from Cu, Ti, Cu-X alloy, Ti-X alloy, and their mixture, wherein X is alkali metal, alkali earth metal, group 13 elements, group 14 elements, transition metal, rare earth metal, and their combination. |
