PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator for a dynamo-electric machine having excellent magnetic characteristics by the engagement of each tooth and a back yoke, and also to provide a dynamo-electric machine employing the same. SOLUTION: The stator 2 (stator for dynamo-electric machine and dynamo-electric machine including the stator for dynamo-electric machine) includes a stator core 10 and the back yoke 8. In the stator 2, the front ends 7a of teeth 7 having widths in the peripheral direction widened towards the outside in the radial direction and projections 8a having widths in the peripheral direction widened towards the inside in the radial direction are formed in approximately the same shape in a manner that the front ends 7a and the projections 8a can be engaged. In the stator 2, the lengths (widths Lb of junctions) of junction sites joining the front ends 7a of the teeth 7 and the projections 8a at engagement, the widths (widths La in the peripheral direction) in the peripheral direction of the teeth 7, corresponding to the front end faces of the projections 8a, the widths (root widths Lc) of the roots of the teeth 7 and the widths (widths Ld in the peripheral direction) in the peripheral direction of the projections 8a, corresponding to the bases of recesses 8b are formed so as to be approximately equalized.
