PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to reduce the occurrence of errors when generating a depth image of high definition. CONSTITUTION: Based on one of the color value difference, the depth value difference and the inter-pixel distance fro a first pixel of an input depth image matched with an input color image, a weight calculation unit(120) calculates the weight values for the pixels adjacent to the first pixel. Through the use of the weight value for the pixel, a weight application unit(130) calculates a compensated depth value of the first pixel.
