<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking shipping wedge for use with a disposable loading unit of a surgical instrument. <P>SOLUTION: A loading unit and shipping wedge assembly includes: the loading unit adapted to releasably engage the surgical instrument and including a tool assembly and a drive assembly which is movable from a retracted position to an advanced position to actuate the tool assembly; and the shipping wedge which is configured to releasably engage the loading unit and includes a transverse member positioned to extend into the loading unit and engage the drive member to retain the drive member of the loading unit in the retracted position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
