<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery with a high output at initial ambient temperature and at -30°C, providing high discharge capacity even at high-rate discharging, and yet, with a high capacity retention ratio after endurance tests such as high-temperature preservation test and a cycle test, and excellent in initial output performance and a high-rate discharge capacity even after the endurance test. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte battery is provided with a collector, a cathode containing at least one kind of lithium-containing phosphate compound as a cathode active material expressed in LixMPO<SB>4</SB>(M: at least one kind of element selected from group 2-12 metals of the periodic table, 0<x≤1.2), an anode containing an anode active material capable of storing and releasing lithium ion, and nonaqueous electrolyte solution.
