PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method not containing hydrogen fluoride formed in the production of a difluoroacetic acid ester from difluoroacetic acid fluoride with an alcohol, in a product. SOLUTION: This method for producing the difluoroacetic acid ester expressed by formula (2): CHF<SB>2</SB>COOR (2) (wherein, R is a monovalent organic group) is provided by comprising a process of reacting an alcohol expressed by formula (1): ROH (1) (wherein R is the same as above) with difluoroacetic acid fluoride in the presence of lithium chloride.
