PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalytic functional material having excellent photocatalytic activity as well as excellent durability. SOLUTION: Provided is glass ceramics containing a crystal phase including crystals of niobium oxide, crystals of niobate and/or solid solutions of those. The glass ceramics may contain, on a basis of mol%, an Nb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>component by 5 to 50% with respect to the amount of the whole substances of the composition in terms of oxides, and further may contain an Rn<SB>2</SB>O and/or RO component by 5 to 40% (wherein Rn represents at least one element selected from Li, Na and K, and R represents at least one element selected from Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and Zn).
