摘要 Disclosed is a device for assessing the alertness of an operator using brainwaves, which accurately assesses the alertness of the operator without requiring prior manual calibration. The device comprises: a preparation status detection unit for detecting a time interval when the operator is making preparations prior to commencing a driving operation; an assessment baseline adjustment unit for adjusting the assessment baselines for assessing the alertness of the operator during the driving operation by using the measured eye movement signals to compute at least the Eye Fixation Related Potentials (EFRPs) from the operator's brainwave signals that were measured in the time intervals and then adjusting the assessment baselines on the basis of the EFRPs thus computed; an alertness assessment unit that computes EFRPs from the EEG signals and the eye movement signals of the operator that are measured after commencement of the driving operation and assesses the alertness of the operator during the driving operation on the basis of the computed EFRPs and the adjusted assessment baselines; and an output unit that functions to increase the alertness of the operator on the basis of the assessment results.
