The method involves transmitting a momentary transmission signal (20) by a radar transmitter (2), and receiving a transmission signal (21) reflected from an object (10) by a radar antenna element (3). A base band signal (22) is produced from the momentary transmission signal and the received transmission signal. The base band signal and/or a signal derived from the base band signal are continued by a spectral estimation method i.e. linear prediction. The base band signal is produced from a momentary frequency ramp of the transmission signal. An independent claim is also included for a radar system for executing a method for determining distance and speed and/or angles of an object.
