Streptokinase is purified by bringing into contact with DEAE cellulose, TEAE cellulose or ECTEOLA cellulose a solution of streptokinase in a phosphate buffer having a molar concentration of from 0.005 to 0.015, washing the cellulose with a phosphate buffer having a molar concentration between 0.02 and 0.06 to remove impurities, and removing streptokinase from the cellulose with a phosphate buffer having a molar concentration between 0.06 and 0.15.
