762,343. Braiding. WALTER, E. Dec. 13, 1954 [Jan. 11, 1954; Oct. 7, 1954], No. 35979/54. Class 74 (1). [Also in Group XXXVI] A braiding-machine for covering a self-coiling electric cable which is of flattened cross-section and includes an elastic element 2 tending to maintain a compact helical arrangement of the cable (see Group XXXVI), is provided with a pair of rotating members 11, 12 shaped so that the conductors 1a, 1b and element 2 are drawn between them at different speeds. The conductors are drawn through axles 9 of wheels 7 and the element 2 is drawn, under tension, through the axle of a smaller wheel, the covering threads being withdrawn from spools 5. The members 11, 12 may be conical so that conductor 1b, which is remote from the apices of the cones, is drawn through at a higher speed than conductor 1a, which is in turn drawn through at a higher speed than element 2. |
