<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the surreptitious use of a card medium by an illegal act by locking the card medium abnormally stopped and retained after inserted from a card insertion port. <P>SOLUTION: A card locking device 10 is operated when the card medium 4 inserted from the card insertion port 3 of a card reader body 1 is abnormally stopped and retained, and the card medium 4 is prevented from moving and locked by a lock lever 20. In this lock lever 20, one end of a lever body 21 is turnably supported through a pivot pin 17, and locking teeth 22 of saw tooth shape abutting to bite into the surface of the card medium are formed along the peripheral edge of the other end of the lever body 21. A movable frame 12 is connected to the lock lever 20 and reciprocated toward the card insertion port 17.
