The machine has a picking device (10) receiving hollow bushes (3) and arranged in front of a fitting tube (24) in an axially aligned manner. A delivery device delivers the hollow bushes from the picking device to a bush mounting device (20). The delivery device has a slip-over device (13) moved relative to the picking device and delivering the hollow bushes from the picking device to the fitting tube. A filling mandrel (23) protrudes through the fitting tube to deliver the bushes from the picking device to the mounting device and withdraw from the tube to mount the bushes at a cable. An independent claim is also included for a method for delivering a hollow bush and mounting the hollow bush at a cable.
