A digital signal playback device comprising: a playback circuit for reproducing digital signals recorded on a recording medium; a detector for detecting a change in reproducing speed or a stop condition during reproduction of said digital signals by said playback circuit; and a digital interface for outputting said reproduced digital signals and for generating and transmitting discontinuity data upon playback of said plurality of programs in accordance with the detection of said change in reproducing speed or said stop condition by said detecting means.
