A wheel and tyre assembly is laterally stabilized by a circumferential extension 20 of the wheel disc 3 engaging in a groove 5 formed between radial extensions 9, 10 of the wheel rim 2. An elastic pad 19 secured on the extensions 9, 10 engages in a groove 32 beneath the tyre tread on deflation of the tyre to prevent lateral movement thereof. The disc and rim are connected by continuous rubber or synthetic plastics supports 25, 26. An elastic ring 24 is secured around the extension 20, and the extensions 9, 10 and 20 may be faced on their opposing surfaces with antifriction linings, e.g. of graphite. |
