A roller-and-ring machine particularly intended for the pelletization of animal foodstuffs or plastics waste, is similar to that described in Specification 1,037,145, but the annular feed device on to which a layer of material is formed by centrifugal force is no longer attached to the feed screw and is preferably not rotated. In the embodiment shown, the feed device is an extension 66 of a casing 60 surrounding a feeding member 55 which comprises adjustable paddles 151 attached to a conical core. Furthermore, ring 26 is held in position by an annulus 70 which is forced against the ring by the introduction of hydraulic fluid from a manual pump 80 into a gap between an annular groove in annulus 70 and an annular piston 62 associated with casing 60. Casing 60 is pivoted to main casing 10 and may be swung away therefrom to facilitate cleaning the various components and changing of ring 26. In a second embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), the feed device is an annulus (160) and in a third embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the device is a drum (42) attached to a cover (11). Both the drum, cover and screw housing (60) are swingable away from ring (26) by release of bolt (19), and ring (26) may be adjusted axially by screws (28).
