FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing samples, carrying out tests in smouldering and burning modes, recording the relationship between optical transmission and the time for each mode, followed by determining the smoke-formation coefficient of the test samples using the optical transmission value. Testing of the prepared samples is stopped when the maximum optical transmission value is achieved. Further, a standard sample is selected and then tested in temperature conditions similar to tests on the prepared samples. The optical transmission value of the standard sample is determined until it reaches maximum value and measurement results with the minimum optical transmission values are selected from the two modes. Further, the smoke-formation coefficient is determined based on the obtained data. ^ EFFECT: high accuracy of determining smoke-formation capacity. ^ 1 dwg |
