PURPOSE: A side mirror protection system is provided to notify the approach of an obstacle to the side of a vehicle through a speaker or a monitor and automatically fold a side mirror. CONSTITUTION: A side mirror protection system comprises an object sensing unit(21), a side mirror driving unit(24), a storage unit(25), and a control unit(26). The object sensing unit senses an object(10) ahead of or behind a vehicle and measures the distance between the object and the vehicle. The storage unit stores speed of the vehicle and a tilting angle of a side mirror. When the vehicle speed is equal to or lower than a set value, the control unit controls the object sensing unit to sense an object and the side mirror driving unit to fold a side mirror according to the distance between the object and the vehicle, the vehicle speed, and the side mirror titling angle. |
