PURPOSE: A method for reducing scales of a rolling material is provided to reduce the thickness of secondary scales by preventing scales from growing between a roughing mill process and a finishing mill process. CONSTITUTION: A method for reducing scales of a rolling material is as follows. Information about a material extracted from a furnace is obtained(S100). The material is divided into accelerated cooling steel and non-accelerated cooling steel based on the obtained information. The flow rate of water sprayed on the material is controlled depending on the material passing through a roughing mill(S200). The surface temperature of the material just before a finishing mill process is kept under a set value(S300). The thickness of scales of the material passing through the finishing mill process is kept under a set value(S400).
