PURPOSE: A real time locating system and a method thereof are provided to recognize the accurate position of a moving body while reducing the number of an ultrasonic beacon by mixing the coordinate measurement of the moving body and an ultrasonic distance measurement. CONSTITUTION: In a real time locating system and a method thereof, a beacon(100) turns on/off a landmark according to a tag(200) command, and it receives a synchronized wireless signal to calculate an ultrasonic distance and transmit it to tag. The tag generates a landmark control signal to the beacon and measures the position and direction of a moving body through landmark image, it compensate the position of the measured moving body through the ultrasonic distance from the beacon.
