Nb3Al SUPERCONDUCTING WIRE ROD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance and long Nb3Al superconducting wire rod, capable of restraining connection between Nb/Al filaments to generate magnetic instability, and capable of preventing a wire from breaking at an extending process while maintaining high Jc characteristics. SOLUTION: The Nb3Al superconducting wire rod is provided with a winding core 30, a wire rod having a filament layer containing Nb and Al and covering the winding core 30, and a single wire having a first barrier layer covering the wire rod and a second barrier layer consisting of Ta for covering the first barrier layer. The first barrier layer after processing to a final shape has hardness between that of the wire rod and that of the Ta layer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
