<p>The device has a sensor (36) e.g. optical sensor, placed against wheels (32, 34) e.g. phonic wheels, when a shaft (22) is intact and broken, respectively. The sensor delivers a signal (SN) with a characteristic e.g. signal frequency, representing a rotating speed of the wheel against which the sensor is placed. A processing unit (38) provides an anomaly signal when the characteristic has a value that exceeds a threshold corresponding to a preset wheel rotating speed, and has a time-dependent variation rate that exceeds a limit corresponding to a preset rotating speed increasing rate.</p> |
