<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter having low retardation and achieving both of high contrast and visibility in an oblique direction; and to provide a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: In two or more pigments in the color pixels, birefringence of a pigment dispersion and the content of the pigment in a photosensitive color composition satisfy the following conditions (a), (b) and (c), and the absolute value of the retardation Rth in the thickness direction of the color pixels ranges from 0 nm to 3 nm. The conditions are: (a) the content of a pigment having less than 0.011 absolute value of the birefringence Δn is 34 mass% or more and 100 mass% or less based on the whole amount of the pigments; (b) (content of a pigment having less than 0.011 absolute value of the birefringence Δn)>(content of a pigment having 0.011 or more and less than 0.016 absolute value of the birefringence Δn)≥0; and (c) (content of a pigment having 0.011 or more and less than 0.016 absolute value of the birefringence Δn)≥(content of a pigment having 0.016 or more and 0.055 or less absolute value of the birefringence Δn)≥0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
