<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring means having high measuring speed and measurement accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: A sensor for measuring distances or changes in distance according to the principle of signal transmit time includes a transmitter a transmitter controller capable of transmitting transmitter signals at a transmission time which can be previously set and a receiver for receiving reflected signals. An evaluation unit of the sensor transmits a signal at some transmission time at every measuring period, scans receiving signals, creates a histogram 114b by accumulating signals received in this way over a large number of measuring periods, and determines the time of reception and the passage time on the basis of the histogram 114b. The evaluation unit is constituted in such a way as to determine the time of reception with time resolution higher than the time resolution of the histogram 114b by interpolation and previously set the time of reception over the large number of measuring periods according to some distribution so that the temporal position of the time of reception in the histogram 114b may change over the large number of measuring periods. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
