<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that allows easy adjustment for reducing color unevenness, while suppressing dimming in a space saving state, and a method for adjusting the projector. <P>SOLUTION: While a change in a pattern formed on a screen SR is visually confirmed, adjustment of a relay lens 44a by rotation is performed. In such a case, the relay lens is located, at a position where illuminance distribution of blue light LB is changed so that it lies closest to illuminance distribution on the screen SR of red light LR, passing through a red optical path OP1 (arrangement adjusting stage). After the arrangement adjusting stage, the relay lens 44a is fixed, by applying an adhesive to a lens arrangement adjusting mechanism 83 (adhesion stage).
