PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a high quality image in a display device such as an electronic optical device.

SOLUTION: The control device controls a video signal input to the display device (100) and the luminance of a light source (500) for making light incident on the display device. The control device includes: a video signal analyzing means (211) for analyzing the video signal; a light source luminance control signal generating means (212) for generating a light source luminance control signal on the basis of the result of the analysis; a light source luminance control means (221) for controlling the luminance of the light source on the basis of the light source luminance control signal; a storage means (214) for storing a relation between the light source luminance control signal and an amount of video correction; a video correction signal generating means (213) for generating a video correction signal on the basis of the light source luminance control signal; a video signal correcting means (231) for correcting the video signal on the basis of the video correction signal; and a video signal output means for outputting the corrected video signal to the display device.
