PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical mill which fixes the rotation ratio of a crushing table and a pressurizing roller by synchronizing the rotation of the crushing table and the pressurizing roller so that the relative speed difference between the crushing table and pressurizing roller may be established as a predetermined value. SOLUTION: The vertical mill includes a housing 7 forming a classifying chamber 16, the crushing table 1 housed in the lower part of the housing and rotationally driven by a table driver 8, a plurality of roller pressurizing device pressurizing a pressurizing roller 4 to the crushing table and crushing coal on the crushing table, and a coal feed device 19 feeding massive coal to the crushing table, and then the table driver and the pressurizing roller are synchronously driven.
