PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate distortion effectively by a distortion compensating apparatus for compensating distortion occurring in an amplifier for amplifying an input signal by a predistortion system. SOLUTION: A coefficient storage unit stores a distortion compensation coefficient for giving predistortion to an input signal corresponding to each address to the address. An address detection unit 6 detects the addresses of M bits, namely 0 to (M-1)-th bits corresponding to the input signal. An address generation unit 7 generates an address, where the values of 0 to (M-N-2)-th bits are rounded down, and the value of the (M-N-1)-th bit is rounded up when it is 1 and is rounded down when it is 0. An error mapping unit 9 maps data of the error between the input signal and an output signal of the amplifier to an address generated for the input signal for averaging for each address, and generates error information based on the result.
