PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cofferdam work by preventing a decline in work efficiency caused by an increase in the flow velocity of a cofferdam section in a last cofferdam section of an impervious wall. SOLUTION: A cofferdam method for the last cofferdam section of the impervious wall in constructing the impervious wall for shutting off waste or unfree water from the open sea, using impervious sheet piles includes constructing short side walls having water flow parts in facing arrangement orthogonal to the last cofferdam section 2 of the impervious wall, outside the last cofferdam section 2; constructing a long side wall parallel with the last cofferdam section of the impervious wall to construct a temporary impervious wall 3 of substantially U-shape in a plan view; closing one water flow part on the short side wall; and then closing the other water flow part in the short side wall in a suitable tide level time. In this state, the last cofferdam section 2 of the impervious wall is blocked by driving sheet piles, and then the temporary impervious wall 3 is removed to carry out cofferdam method for the last cofferdam section 2 in the impervious wall 1.
