<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbo compound system which is excellent in energy saving capability and improved in output and efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a turbo compound system is equipped with a plurality of an exhaust gas turbine supercharger 3, 4; a power turbine 5; a steam turbine 10 driven by steam generated by an exhaust gas economizer 11; a turbine generator 25 coupled to a shaft of the power turbine 5 and the steam turbine 10; exhaust gas turbine superchargers 3, 4; and a controller for controlling operations of the power turbine 5 and the steam turbine 10. In the turbo compound system, when an engine load of an engine body 2 is not larger than a given value, one exhaust gas turbine supercharger 3 is made to be disabled, and besides, an exhaust gas amount extracted from the engine body 2 is reduced to thereby decrease an output of the power turbine 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
