PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that the assembling is difficult when an optical isolator is mounted on a substrate provided with an optical guide part because a fiber-shaped lens is so small. SOLUTION: The method of assembling the optical module includes: a process in which the fiber-shaped lenses which have a lens function are fixed on the primary face of a first substrate; a process in which a recessed part extending to intersect with the fiber-shaped lenses is formed on the primary face of the first substrate and the fiber-shaped lenses are separated; a process in which an optical isolator unit is made by arranging the optical isolator in the groove to be located between the separated fiber-shaped lenses; and a process in which a second substrate is prepared which has, on its primary face, two optical guide parts and a positioning groove extending in the optical axis direction of the optical guide parts, and the optical isolator unit and the second substrate are arranged to face oppositely so that the fiber-shaped lenses are abutted on the positioning groove.
