<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control consecutive shooting composed of a plurality of cuts as intended by a user, in self-timer shooting. <P>SOLUTION: A timing to start second and subsequent shooting operations in consecutive shooting using a self-timer is changed according to the state of a detected face of a person. The user is notified that the timing to start shooting is being determined, thereby controlling shooting timing in the consecutive shooting as intended by the user.
