A multiparticulate modified release composition comprising methylphenidate is characterized that contains a first component comprising a first population of methylphenidate-containing particles and at least one subsequent component, whereby each subsequent component comprising a subsequent population of methylphenidate-containing particles, whereby the at least one subsequent component comprising a subsequent population of methylphenidate further comprises a modified release coating or alternatively or additionally a modified release matrix material. Described is also a solid oral dosage form containing thereof and its use in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of attention deficit disorder.
