PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of inexpensively detecting an abnormal state of a motor current detection circuit while discriminating it from high speed steering without using a means for detecting steering speed. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device includes: an abnormality detector; an abnormality determination tool; and a stop determination tool. The abnormality detector detects a state in which a target current value or a duty ratio of PWM control exceeds a predetermined value, and a detection current value is less than the predetermined value as the abnormal state of the motor current detection circuit. The abnormality determination tool determines abnormality of the motor current detection circuit when the abnormal state is intermittently repeated, and an integrated time value of the abnormal state reaches the abnormality determination time. The stop determination tool suppresses generation of the integrated time value of the abnormal state, and forcibly stops the abnormality determination tool from determining abnormality when the state in which impressed voltage of an electric motor or a steering torque exceeds the predetermined value continues for the stop determination time.
