PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a curable resin composition for obtaining a cured product having a low residual furfuryl alcohol content, a low residual formaldehyde content and high chemical resistance. SOLUTION: The method for producing a curable resin composition includes reacting furfuryl alcohol with an excessive molar ratio of formaldehyde in the presence of an acidic catalyst and distilling-out residual formaldehyde. Preferably 1 mol of furfuryl alcohol is reacted with 1.5-3.0 mol of formaldehyde and preferably pKa of the acidic catalyst is 3.0-5.0, the residual furfuryl alcohol is≤1 wt.% and the residual formaldehyde content is also≤1 wt.%.
