PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a stream recording possible without increasing control information unnecessarily even if data of MPEG-TS are mistaken in recording. SOLUTION: A PATS counter synchronizing with an SCR superimposed on an MPEG-TS is used. A value of the time stamp information of a picture (PTS/DTS) detected in the preceding period of recording the MPEG-TS (ST500-ST510) and a value of PATS counter are recorded in pair. When a significant difference is found out (ST600 YES), comparing the increase of the time stamp information with the increase of the PATS counter (ST512-ST526) in the next time stamp information detection, it is determined that an error is found out in the value of the time stamp information, then a recording processing is carried out (ST530).
