PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a user from losing a viewing opportunity when unreproduced content is updated despite his or her intentions. SOLUTION: When detecting that broadcast distribution content is updated, a receiver checks playback history of stored old content and acquires, when it has not been reproduced yet, only metadata of new content without performing content update immediately, keeps the old content for a reproduction period based on the metadata of the old content, presents the reproduction period to urge a user to reproduce it, updates the content from broadcast when the content has been reproduced, acquires new content from a communication server when the content remains unreproduced for the reproduction period, and performs content update.
