<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED lighting system whose range of light distribution can be controlled easily depending on the place of use. <P>SOLUTION: The LED lighting system includes an LED light source 14 having a packaged LED chip and supported on a base 12, and a translucent optical cover 15 covering the LED light source to diffuse light emitted from the LED chip. The LED lighting system includes a mechanism for fixing the relative height of the optical cover 15 when viewed from a surface on which the LED light source 14 is supported, while the optical cover and the LED light source are supported on the base, and for adjusting the height. More specifically, the LED lighting system either (1) includes a mechanism for moving a portion of the optical cover 15 in and out in a direction perpendicular to the surface supporting the LED light source, (2) includes a mechanism for moving the supported position of the LED light source up and down in a direction perpendicular to the surface supporting the LED light source, or (3) is configured to be able to vary the height of the optical cover 15 itself. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
