PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory management device for preventing unnecessary increase in frequency of rewriting by selecting data written into nonvolatile memory, and improving the use efficiency while maintaining the life of the nonvolatile memory. SOLUTION: Regarding a file having data in buffer memory 4, of the files stored in cache memory 5, this memory management device calculates the communication amount reduced by cache hit in a certain period from the present time to the past and the communication amount generated by a cache mistake, and compares communication sum total amount Gtotal of the sum total of them with a threshold S, thereby determining the existence of a file seldom used as a cache. Then, the memory management device abandons the data as a part of a file of low availability from the buffer memory 4, and stores the data as a part of a file of high availability in the cache memory 5.
