PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce the number of electric motors in a position adjustment type steering device capable of performing a tilt adjustment and a telescopic adjustment, and locking a steering wheel in a tilt direction and a telescopic direction. SOLUTION: The position adjustment type steering device includes: a position adjustment mechanism for driving an upper jacket 16 in a tilt direction X and an axial direction Y; and a second lock mechanism 52 for locking the upper jacket 16. When in a non-fixed state in which an operating gear 47 and an operated gear 48 are not fixed, a first electric motor 33 of the position adjustment mechanism displaces the upper jacket 16 in the tilt direction X, and when in a fixed state, the first electric motor 33 displaces the upper jacket 16 in the axial direction Y. The second lock mechanism 52 is provided with a second electric motor 55 driving a first cam member 81 for fixing the upper jacket 16, and a second transmission mechanism 56 for displacing the operating gear 47 by the second electric motor 55.
