PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an erosion-resistant member excellent in erosion resistance (properties of hardly inducing erosion, burning and thermal shock) even when the member is in contact with a melted material of aluminum, magnesium, zinc or alloys of these metals for a long time. SOLUTION: The erosion-resistant member is to be used for a melted material of aluminum magnesium, zinc or alloys of these, and comprises a metal coating film and a metal diffusion layer formed on the surface layer of a steel base, the surface to be in contact with a melted material, by applying a metal coating powder containing nickel and boron as essential components and heat-treating in vacuum. The heating temperature in vacuum is preferably at 800 to 1,300°C and the vacuum degree in the vacuum heat treatment is preferably 0.1 to 40 Pa. The metal coating powder preferably contains not only nickel and boron but silicon. The steel base preferably comprises a carbon steel, hot dies steel or high-speed steel.
