PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective and proper brace damper in a simple constitution, which is manufactured simply, with cost reduction. SOLUTION: The brace damper includes a core member 11 made of a belt-like steel plate, with its both ends fixed to a building, and a restraint member 12 attached to the core member for preventing the out-of-plane buckling of the core member while allowing its axial deformation. A yield part 11a as a narrow portion is provided to the core member. The width size of a channel-shaped steel 12a as the restraint member is made equal to that of the yield part 11a, and a connected steel member 12b is tightened to the flanges of both channel-shaped steels at the position of the yield part so as to connect the channel-shaped steels on both sides together. The yield part is provided while being shifted to the end side of the core member. The mutual ends of the channel-shaped steels are connected with an end connecting steel member. A rib is provided to the minimum part in bending rigidity. A cut T-steel is used as the connecting steel member. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
