PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing a novel naringenin derivative, 7-trimethyl aceto-naringenin is provided to induce cancer cell apoptosis. CONSTITUTION: A novel naringenin derivative is denoted by chemical formula 1. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating cancer contains the compound of chemical formula 1 or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The cancer is uterus cancer. The compound of chemical formula 1 is prepared by adding trimethyl acetyl chloride to naringenin. A method for preparing the compound of chemical formula 1 comprises a step of dissolving naringenin in CH_2Cl_2, adding Et_3N, and then adding trimethyl acetyl chloride.
