PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robust and small rotary electrical machine having a mechanism capable of varying an output characteristic, without increasing mechanical loss, or without consuming the electric power that does not contribute to increasing torque. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine has a rotor and a stator which oppose to each other. Either of them is divided into at least two portions, i.e. a first portion including an opposite portion opposing the other and a second portion not including the opposite portion opposing the other. Either of the two divided portions moves relative to the other portion so that the magnetic resistance can be adjusted between the first and second portions. The rotary electrical machine can be changed between a state of forming a magnetic flux flow flowing through the pair of first portions adjacent to each other via the second portion and a state of forming a magnetic flux flow transmitting through the opposite portions of the pair of first portions and a space between the opposite portions of the pair of first portions.
