PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner preventing adverse effects on aerodynamic performance during operation, kept clean all the time without generating dirt and dew formation and including an indoor unit capable of improving design performance. SOLUTION: The air conditioner includes: an indoor unit body 1 having an air blower 17, a heat exchanger 18 and a drain pan 19 etc. installed therein, facing a ceiling opening 31 and installed within a ceiling 30; and a decorative panel 2 having a suction port 3 and a blowout port 4, including a suction grille 7 and a filter 8 provided on the downstream of the suction port 3, fixed to a lower face of the ceiling opening 31 and covering the lower face of the indoor unit body 1. A shutter plate 10 which closes the suction port 3 during stop of the operation and is moved along the inner face of the decorative panel 2 and stored between the suction port 3 and the blowout port 4 to open the suction port 3 during operation is provided in the suction port 3 of the decorative panel 2.
