摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electro-optical device high in display quality and suitably applicable to a large-sized display device. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes forming barrier ribs 7a, 7b to expose a portion of cathode wiring 32 and then forming an organic EL layer 8 covering the barrier ribs and the cathode wiring 32. In this state, laser beams are radiated toward a light heat converting layer 31. The light heat-converting layer 31 and the cathode wiring 32 thereby generate heat, and the organic EL layer 8 at a portion abutting on the cathode wiring is sublimated and removed. A common electrode 9 is then formed by a vacuum deposition method, and the common electrode 9 is formed also at the exposed portion in the cathode wiring 32. Consequently, even if the surface resistance of the common electrode 9 is high, periodic connection by the cathode wiring 32 is secured within a display region V to suppress the degradation of emission luminance. Further, since a vapor deposition mask is not used in this manufacturing method, the method can be suitably applied to the manufacture of the large-sized display device. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
