<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device and a projection device having the same capable of projecting image information based on a color liquid crystal display panel excellently on a screen surface. <P>SOLUTION: The illumination device illuminates a surface to be illuminated by the use of a secondary light source forming means for forming a plurality of secondary light sources from light beams emitted from the light source, and a lens system for forming a conjugate plane conjugate with a light entrance plane or the vicinity thereof of the secondary light source forming means after a color separation system for separating the light beam into three light beams of mutually different wavelength regions. A relay lens system for generating a recessed image surface curve at the light source side is placed in an optical path of a predetermined light beam out of three light beams of mutually different wavelength regions. The surface to be illuminated is placed so as to be deviated to the light source side from a paraxial image plane position of the conjugate plane formed by the relay lens system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
