PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque converter with a clutch between a front cover and an impeller, having simple construction for suppressing an increase in the axial size. SOLUTION: The torque converter includes the front cover 2, a housing 3, a torque converter body 4, a lock-up clutch 5, and an impeller clutch 6. The housing 3 has an outer peripheral portion connected to an outer peripheral portion of the front cover 2. The toque converter body 4 has the impeller 7 and is arranged in a space encircled by the front cover 2 and the housing 3. The impeller clutch 6 is arranged between the housing 3 and the impeller 7 for transmitting and interrupting torque. The impeller clutch 6 has a plate 56 fixed to the outer periphery side of the impeller 7, and a friction facing 57 provided between the housing 3 and the plate 56. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
