PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a portable terminal device thin in thickness while securing the strength for satisfactorily holding a display unit. SOLUTION: A planar display unit 200 having a display driving part 213 driving a liquid crystal display part 211 is attached to a first casing 110 via a metal back plate 160. The back plate 160 has a reinforcing part 180 formed by folding back one end having prescribed width a plurality of times in a roll shape on the rear face side of the back plate 160. The reinforcing part 180 is disposed at a position which includes the horizontal projection area of the display driving part 213, and reinforces the display driving part 213 to prevent stress from concentrating on the display driving part 213.
