METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TUNNEL UPDATE IN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM SUPPORTING LOCAL INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) ACCESS

A method for a tunnel update in a communication system supporting local Internet Protocol (IP) access is disclosed in the present invention. The method includes the following steps: a user terminal being in idle status, when a mobility management component receives a downlink data notification from a data buffer unit, and the user terminal has already activated local IP access, the mobility management component initiates the update of the local IP access transmission tunnels between a wireless side network element and the data buffer unit, and between the wireless side network element and the local access gateway; or, according to the source of the downlink data, the update of tunnels, which are for local IP to access downlink buffer data transmission, is initiated between the wireless side network element and the local access gateway, and selectively between the wireless side network element and the data buffer unit. A system implementing the above method is disclosed by the present invention at the same time. The technical solutions of the present invention are simple and practical.
